Sanitary and Hygiene Services

The supply of sanitary and nappy disposal units in your washroom provides your staff and visitors with a safe and discreet method of sanitary napkin and nappy disposal. The units are supplied with plastic bin liners and formulated aromatic granules to prevent unpleasant washroom odours. The collection, transportation and disposal of sanitary and nappy waste is carried out by appropriately qualified and experienced sanitary technicians.

Corio Waste Management technicians also provide a urinal deep cleaning service. Urinal deep cleaning involves the removal of drain covers for cleaning; mechanical deep cleaning of the drain to remove uric salts and other mineral deposits, cleaning the cistern cover, high pressure washing of the trough wall, surrounds and the urinal step area with an enzyme-based organic drain cleaner. This type of drain cleaner is an environmentally friendly product which will not harm the technician and will not damage the pipe work.

Corio Waste Management can also install and service Automatic Gel Air Freshener and Urinal Sanitiser Dispensers. The Automatic Gel Air Freshener Dispensers are mounted onto the wall of the washroom, 2.1m above the floor, by drilling 2 holes and inserting a plastic anchor into the holes and screwing into place. The dispenser is designed to service a volume up to 170 m3. The unit releases a pleasant fragrance into the washroom and is programmed by selecting the desired working hours, spray application and days of usage. The service of each unit includes an inspection to ensure functionality, replacement of two "D" alkaline batteries and replacement of the gel pod. The Urinal Sanitiser Dispenser is installed by drilling a hole in the flush pipe, inserting a rubber seal into the drill hole and then pushing the nylon tube into the seal. The nylon tube is connected to the dispenser by compression nuts. The dispenser is programmed and serviced in the same way as the Automatic Air Freshener Units.

Other sanitary and washroom products and services provided by Corio Waste Management include:

  • stainless steel and plastic push button soap dispensers with 900 mL capacity providing between 1200 and 1500 hand washes;
  • non-fragrant, fragrant and heavy duty soap refills;
  • toilet seat wipes, anti-bacterial toilet wipes and sanitiser mats;
  • insect repellent dispensers and refills
  • installation and restocking of washroom vending machines, hand dryers and hand towel holders.

Clinical and related wastes are defined as wastes arising from medical, nursing, dental, veterinary, laboratory, pharmaceutical, podiatry, tattooing, body piercing, brothels, emergency services, blood banks, mortuary practices and other similar practices, and wastes generated in healthcare facilities or other facilities during the investigation or treatment of patients or research projects. This includes syringes, needles, lancets, scalpel blades, anything capable of cutting or penetrating the skin, clinical specimens, specimens of urine or faeces, laboratory cultures, human tissue, tissue, carcasses or other waste arising from animals, pharmaceutical substances and cytotoxic drugs.

Corio Waste Management's service will ensure that clinical and related wastes are properly segregated, packaged, labelled, handled and transported to minimise risk to employees and the community, such as needle stick injuries and transmission of infectious diseases.

To ensure safe transport of clinical and related waste for treatment or disposal, EPA has a permit and tracking system. The Waste Transport Certificate system is designed to ensure that wastes are monitored from creation to disposal. It is the responsibility of the waste generator to ensure that the correct documentation is completed prior to the waste being transported off-site. However, in some circumstances, Corio Waste Management may be able to complete the documentation on your behalf as part of the accredited agent system.

Corio Waste Management's service solution includes the collection, transportation, treatment and disposal of clinical and related wastes. This involves the supply of medical waste pales, sharps containers and 40, 60, 80, 120 and 240 L bins made from low density polyethylene. All sharps and other waste containers meet the specific Australian Standards requirements. Clinical and related waste must be segregated and identified by colour coding and marked according to the following:

Cytotoxics are the most hazardous of the pharmaceutical wastes. They are capable of impairing, injuring or killing cells and many have a direct irritant effect upon skin, eyes, mucous membranes and other tissue. They can cause local toxic and/or allergic reactions and thus need to be handled very carefully as even very small quantities can be hazardous. All cytotoxic waste, including contaminated sharps, must be segregated and identified by colour coding and marked according to the following:
